Kids in Florida public schools could soon be coloring the face of a male goat, a frequent representation of satan (click here for more). In fact, a satanic temple submitted the coloring book to the Orange Country School district. And do you know what basis they have for this? Well there was just a lawsuit by the ‘Freedom From Religion Foundation’, who argued that Free Speech was hindered because the schools opposed literature from outside groups. The judge ruled that religious pamphlets from all religious affiliations can be distributed. Don't you love the hypocrisy and double standards of the atheists? They argue that atheism isn't a religion but then when it suits them, in this case, atheism is protected as an equal religion to Christianity. One might argue these aren't atheists they are satanists. I contend they are probably in bed with each other. It is likened to when the Pharisees buddied up with their enemies the Herodians to try and confront Jesus (Matthew 22:15-22).
Maybe if we spent a little less time drawing pentagrams and a little more time reading our constitution we would see the glaring ignorance here. The First Amendment does NOT give us the right to say whatever we want, whenever we want, to whomever we want. Read it yourself. You can’t yell “fire” in a crowded movie theater and be protected under the constitution. You can’t libel or slander people and be protected constitutionally. The First Amendment was written in order to allow the Press (and public) to have the freedom to criticize the government without fear of imprisonment, fines, or any other persecutions.
In fact, the first three words of the amendment are crucial “CONGRESS SHALL NOT”. Did you get that? It has to do with Congress not with any state, local, private, or any other institution. Congress is not allowed to make laws respecting religion, speech, press, assembly, right to petition. Therefore, other institutions can, unless their state constitutions say otherwise, allow religious materials while disbarring satanic coloring books.
So while little Johnny and Sally in Florida might soon be forced to choose between Red or Black for Satan’s face, we better prepare because once Pandora’s box is opened it almost can never be closed. We have to prepare to defend the Christian worldview so that it is a respectable position as our culture progressively calls evil good and good evil.
How can we do a better job at showing that passing out Bibles is more conducive to a child's wellbeing than satanic material?
